The Penetang Kings season ended on Friday March 14th when they were eliminated by the Alliston Hornets in four games in their Carruthers Division semi-final round by a score of 6-2.
The Hornets finished the four-game sweep of the Kings in Penetanguishene, getting two goals from both Cam Lamont and Jax Bellwood. For the Kings both Carter Wilson and Wyndam Brownlee netted single markers in the loss. Kings goaltender Landon Simec turned aside 36 shots and was named the Penetang player of the game. The Kings managed 22 shots on Alliston netminder, Seth Ronan.
Earlier in the series the Kings dropped game two by a 6-1 score on home ice on Monday March 10th and a 7-2 decision in Alliston on Wednesday March 12th in game three.
In the Monday contest Matthew Laframboise was the only King to find the back of the net. Max Geere was named player of the game for Penetang with his strong effort throughout the game on defence. Simec turned aside 36 Alliston shots, while Penetang fired 22 shots at the Hornets netminder, Ronan.
Game three saw Alliston take a 5-0 lead by the second period intermission before the Kings Lars Derstroff and Tanner Thayer managed to score single goals in the third period. Simec was again busy in the Penetang goal making 40 saves while Owen Butler handled 17 shots for Alliston. Derstroff was the Kings player of the game.
This concludes a successful year for the Penetang squad winning a play-off round against Huntsville with the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s youngest roster before being eliminated by a very strong Hornets club.
Notes: In the other Carruthers Division semi-final, the Orillia Terrier eliminated the Stayner Siskins in five games and will now face the Hornets in the league finals.

The Hornets bounced back in game two with a 3-2 victory over the Terrier on Saturday March 22nd in Orillia.
