The Kings are proud to announce that Kyle Burns has been promoted to General Manager of the club for the 2024-25 season.
Kyle played for the Kings from 2011 to 2015 and, this past season, was the team’s Assistant Coach. Burns was a member of the coaching staff that won the 2023-24 Carruthers Division Coaching Team of the Year; was selected to Coach the PJHL’s North Conference at the 2023 Prospects Game; and also served as a scout for the OJHL’s Collingwood Blues – a role he will continue in this season.
With Kyle’s move to the GM chair, Dale Gignac will assume the full duties for the Director of Hockey Operations. Scott Simon will remain as Head Coach, and Jacob Bernard will continue as Assistant GM.
Now, a message from our new Managing General:
“First off, I would like to thank Dale Gignac, Team President Liz Bangell, the Board of Directors, and everyone else in the Penetang Kings organization for putting their trust in me to be the next GM of such a storied franchise. I’m very excited to get started in the role and to work alongside Head Coach Scott Simon – whom I was very fortunate to have coached with last season. Scott has a lot of hockey experience at the Jr. A and B levels, and is a valuable resource for us, and our players. While our ultimate goal is to win a championship – like we did in 2006 & 2007 – at the same time, our focus will also be on developing our players, so that they may be able to move on to higher levels of hockey and/or achieve any personal goals they may have for their hockey careers. I strongly believe that Penetang is a great place to play, as we have excellent people in place within the organization; wonderful sponsors and local partners; and the support of a passionate fan base. I am very excited to get the process started, as preparations for next season have already begun! Go Kings, Go!”
